The actual intelligence - drawing conclusions & triggering processes

Now it's getting exciting: This is exactly where the heart, the actual intelligence, sits in the IoT process chain and thus also in ROBIOTIC's service. What happens when all the data has been recorded, transferred and analyzed? After all, a successful IoT project is more than just functioning M2M connectivity, which can be displayed via a smart dashboard or cockpit. In order to really increase efficiency, save costs or map business processes that enable a completely new business model, much more than just collecting data is needed.

Our aim is to define from the outset possible disruptive approaches that can completely change a business process that is still established today and thus give the customer a decisive competitive advantage.

Together with the customer, we want to generate tangible economic success: financially measurable changes, sales growth through more service and sales performance or faster sales processes. This is why ROBIOTIC integrates existing and new sales, service and analysis processes into the overall concept from the outset. Generating the right implications

ROBIOTIC draws the right consequences and implications for you on the basis of the available data. Therefore we define different scenarios and questions - What happens if...? - and the resulting process steps. A job that is of great importance for the entire IoT process chain and for which our data analysts contribute a great deal of Know-how, complicated evaluation tools and mathematical understanding: From now on, the data will be refined so that valid predictions can be derived at a later stage.

Keyword rule-based data handling: ROBIOTIC creates rules on how data can be condensed in a meaningful way - e.g. via summaries over time, groups of sensor data as average values, incremental changes, etc. Depending on the project, we also use additional external data such as weather data.

Trigger processes & set impulses

Following the review and interpretation of the results of the data analyses, decisions are made and processes are automated based on these results. This means that predefined processes are triggered when a certain data situation determined by the sensors is present. Here is a brief example: In the customer's ERP system, a repeat order is automatically triggered as soon as a silo level falls below the threshold value. Personalized advertising in the online shop, for example, also works according to the same principle on the Internet of Things.

The triggering of processes and the setting of impulses is often associated with concrete instructions to the teams:

Via a rule engine, ROBIOTIC provides centrally controlled, compiled notification functions for the automation and administration of business rules. These rule definitions are stored, but can of course be adapted over the duration of the project if required. The core of each rule engine is the automated execution of the rules.

Predictive Functions & Artificial Intelligence

Predictive analytics is the future-oriented analysis of data series based on statistical methods, predictive models, machine learning and data mining. This involves identifying patterns in historical data and analyzing risks and probabilities. The results are probable scenarios for the continuation of data series that will help the user or customer to assess a situation. Companies can use mass data in this way, for example, to obtain valuable information about the status of machines and to initiate predictive maintenance processes. Companies replace rigid service cycles with flexible maintenance intervals based on actual wear and tear.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the next foreseeable evolutionary step: AI will make huge amounts of data controllable in the future. Based on the functionality of predictive functions, artificial intelligence makes trends recognizable, draws conclusions and thus enables foresighted analyses into the future. AI uses other data sources such as historical order data for spare parts, language, texts or images and learns to interpret correlations between data series independently. ROBIOTIC sees a high potential for different applications at this point:

  • Evaluation of sales opportunities incl. suggestions for sales activities
  • Forecast for various requirements and sales
  • Optimization of the sequence of service orders including route planning
  • "Event Scoring": What effect will an alarm message have and what actions should then be initiated?
